Betty Crawford Fisher did “come home again!” After a 40-year absence from her native Highlands, Betty returned in 2001, “never to leave again, she says. Following a rewarding career teaching English and reading in Virginia schools, she appears to be tracing her father's footsteps in real estate. After an early retirement from education, Betty, and husband Don, came home, built a house on her great-grandfather Zachary's farm, and wondered what to do with the rest of their lives. Together she and Don studied real estate and have enjoyed over 10 years together as a work team doing what they truly enjoy – helping other people, especially in real estate but in other volunteer activities in the community as well.
Betty most enjoys meeting people with whom she seeks to cultivate friendships, especially in client/broker relationships. She continues to maintain special rapport with former classmates at Mars Hill College and the University of Virginia, with students, and with colleagues. Traveling the globe via cruises and reading, along with gardening, cooking and square dancing, Betty always enjoys just being home in Highlands with Don, her teammate for over 50 years. Her present happiness is joining the Sotheby's Real Estate team of true professionals where she can share the beauty and the good life of the North Carolina mountains.
